NYTimes continues attacks on FDT
Jul 19th, 2007 by Ted Pibil
The NY Times continued its attack from the left today with two articles. The first article described how the addition of Senator Thompson to Republican race for President has changed the landscape and dynamics for the other contenders. Fred Thompson has not changed the race - voters are responding to Thompson because he is striking a chord with the voters. He more closely represents what a lot of voters already desire in a President. So the other candidates are having to try to morph themselves into a candidate that voters want, which is evidently not what they were in the first place.
The second article is trying to resurrect their obsession with Thompson’s legal practice from fifteen years ago. They now say they have invoices from Thompson’s former law firm that allegedly show he was hired to work for a pro-choice advocacy group. And what was this damming evidence? That over a fourteen month period, Thompson allegedly billed the group for a whopping five thousand dollars - that’s correct, 20 hours of billing from fifteen years ago!
They want you to forget what his voting record was while he was a Senator. Forget the endorsements he received from pro-life groups when he was a Senator and the ones he is receiving now. Forget that Joseph Cella of Fidelis, a conservative Catholic advocacy group has joined his team. Forget FDT’s video addressing the National Right to life Conference. Forget the e-mail sent out earlier this week from Karen Cross of the National Right to Life Committee reaffirming their belief in Senator Thompson.
No, all that the NY Times, and the other liberal tools that follow their lead, wants to do is to try to cause doubt in the minds of conservatives. The evidence does not support them.
