Rudy’s 4th Amendment Speech to the NRA?
Sep 22nd, 2007 by Ted Pibil
Lane at Blogs for Thompson made a great observation from Giuliani’s speech at the NRA’s Celebration of American Values. Lost in the distraction that Giuliani was faking another cell phone call in the middle of a speech, was that fact that he doesn’t even know what the Second Amendment is.
He starts off saying how important the second amendment is, and how it is just as important as the other ten amendments, he then mistakenly starts to quote the fourth amendment!
“After all the second amendment is a freedom every bit as important as the other freedoms in the first ten amendments. Just think of the language of it — ‘the people shall be secure’ –let’s see, this is my wife calling…”
That’s funny, I thought that was the first line of the 4th Amendment?
Oh that’s right it is!
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Lane goes on to correctly state that if Fred had made this mistake, it would have been spread all over the blogososphere and covered to death by the Main Stream Media. Oh well, at least I do not think he will use the cell phone trick again!
