Strong’s support goes to Thompson
Sep 28th, 2007 by Ted Pibil
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that William Strong, vice chairman of Morgan Stanley in Chicago, has decided to support Fred Thompson and hold a fundraiser for him on Wednesday. This is significant not only because of Mr. Strong’s influence in the Chicago area, but also because he had previously given money to Romney.
While Strong has kind words for Romney and Rudolph Giuliani, he thinks Thompson will do the best job, citing his fiscally conservative record, his traditional Republican roots and his track record as a “doer” willing to reach across party lines.
“Thompson has a long track record of achievement, from being minority counsel to the Watergate committee to serving as a U.S. senator,” Strong explained. “He has the necessary experience to address the many issues facing our nation.”
