- The Politico:
Gerald Stoudemire, president of the Gun Owners of South Carolina, has made a similar assessment.
He met with Thompson in late November and early December when the presidential hopeful campaigned at a gun show and several gun shops. “He’s been so solid as the Second Amendment person,” said Stoudemire.
At his Little Mountain Gun & Supply store, Stoudemire talks up the Thompson candidacy to his customers, and he’s likely to take a more public position in support of him.
The gun owners’ association vice president, Neil F. Beers Jr., is also a Thompson supporter, although he’s still sizing up Huckabee.
As for the other candidates, Stoudemire ticks their names off and comes to the same conclusion with each: “He’s off my list.”
The Thompson campaign is hoping to marry the gun owners’ support with backing from social conservatives and pro-military activists. As Sadosky sees it, primary voters here are looking for a candidate who can “bring together the full picture of conservative thought.”
- Richard Rahn:
Fred Thompson has laid out the most detailed economic agenda, that would not only continue the Bush tax cuts but further reduce taxes and move toward a flat tax alternative and entitlement reform. He seems the most genuine free market candidate next to Ron Paul, and likely to be unafraid to use his veto pen.
- Rick Moran:
In short, a Thompson win in SC is not only possible but within reach – if Fred has the money for media buys to get his message to the people.
I realize that many bloggers who support Fred have been hitting their readers hard for donations recently – especially since Fred’s campaign has set as a goal raising $540,000 by tomorrow in order to finance his ad campaign. As of Thursday morning, the effort has realized $420,000 towards that goal.
My hope is that once again, speaking with one voice and calling on our readers to dig deep, we can duplicate our success from December’s blogburst, putting Fred way over the top and give the campaign a rocket powered boost into South Carolina and beyond.
We’ve done it before and we can do it again. If you’re a blogger, please participate in this Blogburst for Fred by asking your readers to donate. If you haven’t already, join Jim Lynch’s The Marblehead Regiment and add your blog to his blogroll.
Man the oars and start pulling for Fred. The hour is late and the need is great. Time to pony up if we want to see a true conservative in the White House next November.
- John Lott:
While the media seems to be focused on personalities, Fred Thompson has put forward one well thought out policy position after another, whether it is social security reform or immigration.
- Collin Smith took some great pictures at one of Fred’s South Carolina events.
